Sewer Line Repair & Tunneling in Houston

Houston's shifting clay soil is hard on sewer lines — especially the cast iron under slab homes from the 60s–80s. We diagnose with a camera, show you the footage, and repair by the least invasive route: spot repair, tunnel under the slab, or full replacement.

Signs of a broken sewer line

Recurring backups no amount of cabling fixes
Sewage smell in the yard or inside the house
Unexplained wet spots or extra-green stripes in the lawn
Foundation movement or cracks near plumbing walls
Gurgling toilets when other fixtures drain
Roaches or rodents appearing near drains (they follow breaks)

Camera First. Always.

Nobody should sell you a sewer repair you haven't seen. Every sewer job we do starts with a camera inspection and line locating — you watch the footage with us, we mark exactly where the breaks, bellies, or root intrusions are and how deep, and the written quote maps to what's on the screen. If the line just needs clearing and a maintenance plan, that's what we'll tell you.

Tunneling: fixing under-slab sewers without breaking your floors

When the broken line runs under your slab, there are two ways in: jackhammer through your floors, or tunnel under the foundation from outside. Tunneling costs more per foot but keeps your flooring, cabinets, and daily life intact — and for occupied homes it's usually the right call. Our crews hand-dig access pits and tunnels along the line's path, replace the failed cast iron or clay with new PVC, then backfill and compact properly. Foundation companies in our network can verify elevations before and after on request.

Repair options we quote

  • Spot repair — excavate and replace the failed section (yard lines)
  • Under-slab tunneling — full or partial replacement beneath the foundation
  • Full replacement — when cast iron is deteriorated throughout, piecemeal repair wastes money; we reroute or replace the system
  • City permit, inspection, and proper bedding/backfill on every job

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does sewer repair cost in Houston?

Yard-line spot repairs often run $1,500–$4,000. Under-slab tunnel repairs typically run $150–$250 per foot of tunnel, so total cost depends on how far under the slab the break sits. The camera inspection gives us the exact scope — and you a firm written price.

What is sewer tunneling?

Instead of breaking through your floors, we dig beneath the foundation from an access pit outside and replace the pipe from below. Your flooring and cabinets stay untouched, and you can usually live in the home during the work.

Will insurance cover my sewer repair?

Sometimes — many Houston-area policies cover under-slab plumbing leaks or offer sewer line riders. We document everything with camera footage and written findings that you can submit with a claim.

How long do repairs take?

Spot repairs: usually 1–2 days. Tunnel jobs: typically 2–5 days depending on tunnel length, plus inspection. We keep the site safe, fenced, and cleaned up daily.
