If You Smell Gas Right Now

Leave the house first. Don't flip switches, don't light anything. From outside, call CenterPoint's emergency line (888-876-5786) or 911. Once the utility has made it safe, call us — we locate the leak, repair it, and handle the pressure test and paperwork to get your service restored.

Red-tagged by CenterPoint?

When the utility finds a leak or failed pressure test, they shut off your gas and won't restore it until a licensed plumber repairs the system and it passes inspection. We handle red-tag corrections regularly: isolate the leak, repair or repipe the affected section, pull the permit, run the pressure test with the city inspector, and coordinate restoration. No hot water and no cooking gets old fast — we treat these as priority calls.

Gas repipes, including attic runs

  • Full-system repipes in black iron or CSST, sized from a proper BTU load calculation
  • Concealed attic routing that keeps lines protected and serviceable
  • Sediment traps, shutoff valves, and bonding done to code (CSST bonding is a step others skip — we don't)
  • Permit, pressure test, and city inspection on every repipe

New appliance and generator lines

Adding a standby generator, tankless water heater, or outdoor kitchen? Each has a BTU demand your existing system may not support. We calculate total demand, size the new line correctly, and upsize the supply where needed — undersized gas is the most common cause of "faulty" new appliances that were never actually faulty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does gas line repair cost in Houston?

Simple accessible repairs often run $300–$800. Repipes and red-tag corrections vary widely with the length and routing of the line — attic repipes on typical homes often run $2,500–$6,000+. Every job gets a written price after we test and locate the problem.

Who do I call about a gas leak — the utility or a plumber?

Both, in that order. CenterPoint (888-876-5786) makes it safe for free — they shut off and check the meter. Repairs on your side of the meter require a licensed plumber, which is where we come in.

Do gas lines require permits in Houston?

Yes. Gas piping work requires a permit, a pressure test, and inspection, performed under a Responsible Master Plumber license. Ours is RMP #47088 — it's on every estimate and invoice we write.

Can you run a gas line for my generator?

Yes — and because we also hold an electrical contractor license, we can do the generator's transfer switch and wiring too. One contractor for the whole install is our specialty.
